WE’RE STARTING WITH REPEAL!
DELIVER YOUR LETTER AND SHAWN BUCKLEY’S DISCUSSION PAPER ON THE REPEAL OF THE NATURAL HEALTH PRODUCTS REGULATIONS TO YOUR MP.
CAMPAIGN OPENS JULY 1, 2019. CLOSES SEPTEMBER 30, 2019.
NHPPA sent all 338 Members of Parliament (MPs) a letter and a copy of this Discussion Paper in January 2019 — now it’s your turn!
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW?
Health Canada announced that they are implementing changes to the regulation of natural health products (NHPs), and that the change process started in the Fall of 2018. They will be harmonizing NHP regulations with the new self-care framework under the chemical drug regulations. By early 2020, the NHP Regulations as we know them now will no longer exist.
There has never been a more critical time to protect our health freedom!
You need to let your MP know that you disagree with Health Canada’s proposed changes. It’s imperative you get Shawn’s Discussion Paper and your letter into the hands of your MP at both their constituency office and their House of Commons office.
WHY THIS IS AN EFFECTIVE STRATEGY?
It is the responsibility of our elected officials to represent their constituents — us, the public. In turn, it’s our responsibility as constituents to make our position on important issues known to our elected officials. They don’t read minds. However, they take mail and other communications from their constituents very seriously.
Each and every incoming piece of letter mail and e-mail is seen and read.
To have impact, let’s inundate all 338 MPs — repeatedly, from numerous sources.
The devil is in the details, and the details aren’t given.
Health Canada’s veil of secrecy is obvious. Despite over a year passing since the public consultations, Health Canada has not revealed the details of proposed changes other than timelines for when it will be phased in, by 2020. The public and the entire natural health industry have been given a deliberately vague overview.
The problem is: details matter.
WHAT DO THESE CHANGES MEAN FOR YOU?
Health Canada’s changes affect everyone. Click on the hot link below to find out how stores, practitioners, manufacturers and the public are at risk. We are at the mercy of bureaucrats who believe they can dictate how Canadians manage their health.

You may use the content of Shawn Buckley’s writings to help guide your comments. Share examples of your personal NHP use and reasons why this important to you, for example:
- Basic details of a health condition you choose to address with NHPs
- A time when the allopathic medical model didn’t serve you, and NHPs did
- Your experience losing access to an NHP you once loved, due to removal from the market in Canada
- Your concerns about the impact on your health of losing a product you currently take
- Has a product you came to rely upon been made less therapeutic due to a formulation change? Do you have to take a greater quantity now? How is that affecting your budget?
- Your personal belief in preventative treatments over symptom suppression
- Are you concerned for your business, or the closing of your favourite store? Has someone you know lost their livelihood?
Once complete, make a copy of this letter.

WE WANT TO SEE YOU IN ACTION!
.
We want at least ten people in each riding deliver this package!
There are tens of thousands of you who are concerned. You can do this.
The more of us who get in contact with our MPs, the more likely it is that they will address the issue and stop the Health Canada’s reckless changes.
To personalize this campaign so that we can see our community working together. Consider taking a picture of yourself delivering the package! A picture of your MP’s front entrance! Name plate on the door! A picture of your addressed envelope going in the mail! Get creative! We would like to post your picture (whatever it is) along with your riding on our social media and build civic political muscle. Your identity does not need to be revealed but a first name and last initial would be ideal.
Email your picture(s) to info@nhppa.org

Although we are a not-for-profit organization, we incur expenses to organize and run campaigns. In order for us to be able to move forward with our campaign initiatives into 2019, push back against Health Canada’s proposed regulation changes, and get the Charter of Health Freedom to the House of Commons, we need funding.
